back at the eye hospital again, slightly bleary after being kept awake most of Monday night by a party next door …

On Monday I was over at Alison’s, working our way through all the financial bits and pieces from last week, so that when the money comes in everyone can get paid as quickly as possible. The dulcitone and harmonium arrived back on schedule then too, after various kinds of mistreatment in transit by TNT. The harmonium case (one of these), which had lost a foot on the journey south, has had its pocket ripped open and acquired what looks like a long knife slash down the side, through the canvas and through the foam right down to the wood. At least the instrument was fine, but the dulcitone didn’t fare quite so well: no damage to the case here, but a big crack in one of the side panels. I took it over to Allan’s last night and neither of us could figure out how this could have happened while it was still in its reinforced, foam-lined case, unless it was dropped sideways from a very great height indeed.  It’s not just airlines that don’t look after musical instruments. Anyway, with some care and attention it will recover. A bit like most of the people around me here in the waiting room.
