Friday 21 January 2011
It's Friday night and despite the fact that I have at least another day's work to do before the week is over, I am celebrating in the following ways: 1) a trip to the post office to pick up the copy of the Acme Novelty Library volume 18½ that I tracked down in Germany, 2) putting some Aldeburgh photos into Photoshop in the hope that I might get around to posting some here eventually, and 3) playing with a strip of red LEDs and a 12 volt battery inside the dulcitone.
Simon Thoumire and Ian Carr came to my place of work at lunchtime, and out of the goodness of their hearts played for a wee while to get warmed up for their Celtic Connections gig tonight. They were utterly awesome. I first heard them on the radio 20 years ago (and fair near dropped my pie) and even now I'm still awestruck, because if anything they've got considerably more bonkers in the interim. I hope they make a reunion album. Can I produce it please?
