Most mornings when I start work I either write a list, or pick up one I've already written, that gives a realistic estimate of what I expect to achieve in the course of the day. And most evenings when I shut down for the day, only one of these several items will be scored out as complete, if that. Am I repeatedly failing to learn a lesson here? Or is workrate optimism an essential part of the process?

While I ponder that dilemma, here are some photos from Sunday: a rare but very welcome day off, spent at Loch Awe with Barnaby and Elinor Brown and the boys.
