OK, I know I used to work there and I can tell you all the worst things about it too, BUT even so ...

There. Now if you're British and that doesn't get to you even a bit, then just give all your money to Rupert Murdoch and leave the rest of us to enjoy something more interesting.

Anyway ... I went to hear the Scottish Ensemble on Tuesday night and not only were they really rather good, but who should walk onstage with them and his theorbo, but Eligio Quinteiro. So we've just had a very enjoyable Wee Curry Shop lunch before he goes back to Madrid.

I was in Edinburgh last night for a meeting, and on the final leg of the journey home, there were four different kinds of music leaking out really loudly from people's headphones in the train carriage (only one of them was someone playing Angry Birds). I did my best to enjoy the combination of high frequency patterns, but I was more concerned about how in a few decades' time a large proportion of the population are going to very hearing-impaired indeed. Much as I love train travel, for commuting I do prefer the bike.
