Yesterday I finally snapped, and after seven weeks of trying to be comfortable using an iMac, I still completely failed to do simple tasks in Excel without flailing around looking for the mouse or using the wrong shift/option/ctrl/whatever key, so I threw in the towel. I'm just not a Mac person, OK? I work much faster on Windows, where the keyboard shortcuts work and you can set the mouse pointer to move very fast indeed.
I was trying not to feel too triumphant at finally telling the smug Apple logo staring at me to please go away, when I went to unlock my bike and the key sheared off in the D-lock. Oh. I wasn't sure whether to be impressed or depressed by Kryptonite when the nice university security guy could make no impression on the lock whatsoever with a hammer and a set of bolt-cutters. But he did get the bits of key out of the lock ... so after walking home to pick up a can of GT-85 and my spare key, I went back on bike no. 2, and with a quick scoosh of lubricant the lock just opened like new. I've ordered another spare key. I think the moral is: keep your bike lock well lubricated.
So today's clear day of getting work done didn't quite work out that way.
