I might have a bit of arranging and production work to do in the next week or two, which necessitates preparation by listening to Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand and the soundtrack to Glee. Only the first of these would normally figure in my musical diet. But having an impossible job to accomplish in a hurry has given my adrenaline levels a welcome kick.
Also on the arranging front, in the post today from Delphian came an advance copy of the Michael Marra/McFalls live CD that's not out till November. I'm not on it, but to my slight surprise three of my arrangements are, including my ambient take on Michael's version of Green Grow the Rashes O. I'm very pleased to see that one make another public appearance, and Phil Alexander plays my glockenspiel part with great aplomb - he also sings at the same time, which is more than I ever managed.
The record also has the wonderful Schenectady Calling Peerie Willie Johnson on it, with Robert's great string arrangement. Instantly I'm transported to Berkeley rehearsal studios last 23 July and my feet are back up on the Estey.
